The Gods Project
Thoth
For the ancient Egyptian god project I chose Thoth. Thoth is the God of Wisdom and the moon. He created magic, language and literature. In relation to the moon he made the 356- day calendar. This is symbolic as it represents time, and order.
This Is A Story About Thoth
1. Tefnut ruled the land with Ra. She was often called the eye of Ra and wears Ra`s sun disk. Tefnut had the power of moisture and without her Egypt would dry out.
2. One day, Ra and Tefnut had an argument. Tefnut then ran away from as the form of a fierce lion into Nubia.
3. Without Tefnut all the water in the land dried out and Egypt went into a state of chaos. Ra also missed Tefnut.
4. So Ra sent Thoth and Shu out to find Tefnut. Thoth was the God of wisdom.
5. While in the desert Thoth and Shu disguised themselves as baboons.
6. They found Tefnut but she wished not to return, still angry at Ra.
7. Thoth was unsure what to do. So he tricked Tefnut by telling her horrible stories of Egypt and the suffering they were going though. Tefnut saw past her selfishness and returned to Egypt with Thoth and Shu.
8. Finally the land was fresh anew, water returning and Egypt rejoicing. Once Tefnut reached Ra they apologised and were happy again.
